Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our Cape Town office. In this role, you will evaluate client applications, assess risk factors, and determine policy guidelines to meet both client and company needs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate all underwriting submissions.
• Engage in negotiations with clients and brokers regarding terms.
• Maintain accurate records of all underwriting activities.
• Identify areas for improvement within the underwriting team.
• Consult with actuaries to assess product risk and profitability.
• Respond to inquiries from clients on underwriting decisions.
• Stay updated with changes in insurance regulations and compliance.
• Assist in the development of new insurance products.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Economics or Risk Management
• Relevant insurance qualifications preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in the insurance sector

Technical Skills

• Statistical Analysis

• Interpersonal Skills

Certifications

• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
