Job Description

As a Pipelayer at Utility Solutions SA, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems for water, gas, and sewage utilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the installation of various types of pipelining equipment and systems.
• Evaluate the performance of piping systems and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Train and mentor junior staff on best practices and safety protocols.
• Implement new technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability of installations.
• Prepare site for pipelines, including excavation and site preparation.
• Establish effective working relationships with contractors and clients.
• Participate in safety audits and compliance reviews to maintain high safety standards.

Requirements

Education

• NQF Level 4 Certificate in Plumbing or equivalent

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in utility or construction industry

Technical Skills

• Pipe Installation
• Blueprint Reading
• Safety Compliance

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Teamwork

Certifications

• SANS 10400 Certification
• First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with GIS Mapping Software: Knowledge of using GIS software for utility mapping and planning.
• Heavy Equipment Operator Certification: Certified in operating heavy machinery used in pipeline construction.
