Job Description
We are seeking an Emergency Management Specialist to join our Pretoria team. This vital role involves developing and implementing emergency management plans to enhance community safety and resilience against disasters. The successful candidate will work closely with local authorities, stakeholders, and community members to ensure effective response efforts during emergencies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Draft and enforce emergency management policies within the community.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate with various agencies during emergency situations to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Analyze data and reports on past emergencies to improve future responses.
  • Conduct public awareness campaigns to educate residents on disaster preparedness.
  • Supervise the training of emergency management personnel and volunteers.
  • Monitor compliance with emergency management regulations and standards.
  • Assist in the creation of a community resilience plan.
  • Provide expert advice to local government officials on emergency management issues.
  • Foster partnerships with NGOs and governmental organizations for emergency preparedness.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or related field
  • Master's degree in Emergency Management or related field is preferred
  • Disaster Preparedness Proficient in formulating disaster preparedness plans.
  • Crisis Management Experience in managing crises and emergencies effectively.
  • Risk Assessment Skilled in identifying risks and vulnerabilities in communities.
  • Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership Proven leadership abilities in emergency response situations.
  • Problem-solving Strong problem-solving skills to address emergency situations.
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
  • Basic First Aid and CPR Certification
  • English (Fluent)
  • Afrikaans (Intermediate)
Advantageous
  • Public Speaking Skills: Experience in public speaking and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of Local Legislation: Understanding of local, regional, and national emergency management laws.
