Job Description

As the Farm Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all farming operations on our 400-hectare farm in Bloemfontein. Your responsibilities include managing crop production, implementing sustainable farming practices, and supervising farm staff. Your expertise in agriculture and strong leadership skills will be essential in maximizing our yields and ensuring the smooth operation of the farm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of planting and harvesting schedules.
  • Develop pest management strategies to protect crops.
  • Facilitate farm tours and educational workshops for local schools.
  • Ensure high levels of employee morale and job satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fields and facilities.
  • Collaborate with external agencies for funding and grants.
  • Enhance farm sustainability through renewable energy initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit agricultural reports to relevant authorities.
  • Foster a culture of safety on the farm.
  • Participate in agricultural fairs and expos to promote the farm.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science or related field
  • Further qualifications in farm management are advantageous
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on farm experience
