Structural Engineer

Job Description

Seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer to contribute to exciting projects in Durban. This role requires strong technical skills and a passion for innovative engineering practices. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to bring projects to life.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design projects from concept to completion.
• Perform structural calculations and feasibility analyses.
• Review and approve shop drawings and construction documents.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and building codes.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on technical issues.
• Manage project timelines and budgets.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is a plus

Experience

• 6+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering

Technical Skills

• ETABS
• STAAD.Pro

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Analytical thinking

Certifications

• Chartered Engineer status
• PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in project management software: Hands-on experience with tools like MS Project or Primavera.
• Knowledge of local building codes: Familiarity with South African building regulations and standards.
