Job Description

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients as part of a multidisciplinary medical team. Candidates should exhibit a strong understanding of radiology coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Administer radiation therapy treatments effectively and compassionately.
  • Continuously monitor patient reactions and adjust as necessary.
  • Keep detailed records of patient treatments and progress.
  • Work in conjunction with oncologists to tailor treatment plans.
  • Deliver psychological support to patients undergoing treatments.
  • Manage and calibrate all radiation therapy equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols concerning radiation exposure.
  • Engage in professional development through workshops and training.
  • Ensure that patient confidentiality is upheld in all situations.
  • Strive for outstanding patient care focused on comfort and healing.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or equivalent
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiology Therapist
Experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in a radiation oncology setting
