Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Port Elizabeth office. The successful candidate will evaluate and analyze insurance applications, ensuring risks are properly assessed and coverage is appropriately priced. You will play a critical role in determining insurability by reviewing applications for insurance coverage, conducting risk assessments, and applying policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex insurance applications to determine risk factors.
• Utilize underwriting software and tools to assess risks efficiently.
• Communicate with clients and brokers to clarify underwriting standards and requirements.
• Review loss reports and claim histories to inform underwriting decisions.
• Support the development of new insurance products tailored to market demands.
• Revise and manage existing policies based on changing client needs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Insurance
• Advanced underwriting certifications preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

Certifications

• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
