Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Johannesburg team. You will play a crucial role in analyzing insurance applications, determining risks, and making informed decisions on policy acceptance. Your findings will ensure that our clients receive the best coverage possible.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments for various insurance products.
• Evaluate loss ratios to inform underwriting decisions.
• Communicate with clients to clarify information and resolve issues.
• Prepare reports and present findings to management.
• Assist in the development of underwriting policies and procedures.
• Train junior underwriters and provide guidance as needed.
• Monitor industry developments and suggest improvements to practices.
• Ensure all underwriting practices align with company strategy.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
• Graduate degree is advantageous

Experience

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in insurance underwriting

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
