Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will assess risk and determine appropriate coverage for a variety of insurance products. The ideal applicant has a deep understanding of the insurance industry and demonstrates strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments on insurance applicants.
• Set premium rates based on risk evaluations.
• Act as a liaison between clients and agents to ensure clarity of policy terms.
• Maintain and update underwriting records in the company database.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance and company standards.
• Monitor and analyze industry trends to inform underwriting decisions.
• Coordinate with the sales team to provide support for client proposals.
• Train and mentor new members of the underwriting team.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, or related field
• Advanced underwriting training is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably in underwriting
