Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Durban. This role involves evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage and terms. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Assess risk exposures and set underwriting criteria.
• Collaborate with brokers and agents for policy placements.
• Review and analyze industry trends to inform coverage.
• Negotiate terms with clients to finalize agreements.
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the underwriting process.
• Track the status of underwriting submissions and decisions.
• Conduct credit and background checks as necessary.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

• Data Analysis

Certifications

• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)

Languages

• English: Fluent
