Morgue Keeper

Job Description

The Morgue Keeper is responsible for the respectful maintenance and management of our morgue facility, ensuring the dignified handling and storage of deceased individuals. This role requires a deep sensitivity to the needs of grieving families and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and store deceased individuals with utmost care and respect.
• Ensure proper identification of the deceased and record accurate details.
• Perform embalming, cleaning, and dressing of the deceased as required.
• Support funeral directors in preparing the deceased for funeral services.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities for necessary documentation and permits.
• Provide support to grieving families during their visits to the morgue.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the morgue facilities.
• Assist in administrative tasks related to morgue operations.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations in handling and storing deceased.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certificate/Diploma in Mortuary Science

Experience

• Previous experience in a mortuary setting is highly advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of Mortuary Practices
• Basic Computer Literacy

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Confidentiality

Certifications

• First Aid and CPR Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Management Experience: Previous experience in managing morgue operations and staff is advantageous.
• Additional Certification: Further certification in Mortuary Science or Pathology is a plus.
