Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and determining policy terms. This role requires a blend of analytical skills and effective communication to ensure clients receive the best coverage for their needs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze risk and define coverage for a variety of insurance products.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents to facilitate smooth underwriting processes.
• Review claims to ensure proper understanding of risk associated.
• Participate in pricing discussions and strategy meetings.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of current underwriting policies and practices.
• Lead underwriting audits and assessments as required.
• Assist in training new team members.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or relevant field
• Graduate degree or MBA is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting within the insurance sector

• Professional Risk Manager (PRM)
• Certificate in Insurance and Risk Management
