Commodity Buyer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Commodity Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing and purchasing commodities, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the best quality and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and source commodities.
• Lead negotiations for bulk purchasing agreements.
• Evaluate supplier performance and escalate issues when necessary.
• Assist in the development of procurement policies and procedures.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and recommend actions to maintain competitive positioning.
• Facilitate training for new team members on procurement processes.
• Utilize procurement software and tools to track purchases and inventory.
• Participate in budget preparation and monitoring of expenditures.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
• Support sustainability initiatives within the procurement function.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Logistics, Business Management, or related field

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buying role or similar

Technical Skills

• Supplier Relationship Management
• ERP Software Proficiency

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with International Suppliers: Proven track record of working with overseas suppliers.
• Background in the Mining or Agricultural Industry: Knowledge of commodities specific to these sectors is a plus.
