Veterinarian

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Veterinarian to join our team in Durban. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of animal health issues, performing surgeries, and providing preventative care. Responsibilities

• Assess pets for health complaints and symptoms.
• Provide surgical care for various animal species.
• Educate clients on pet nutrition and preventive care.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in client interactions.
• Collaborate with local shelters for pet health initiatives.
• Conduct follow-up examinations post-treatment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Engage in community education about animal health.
• Participate in peer collaboration and case discussions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent
• Further studies in animal nutrition or dermatology is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years in a clinical setting focused on companion animals

Technical Skills

• Veterinary Medicine
• Diagnostic Imaging

Soft Skills

• Empathy
• Communication

Certifications

• Registered with the SAVC

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Certification in animal behaviour: Expertise in animal behaviour assessment and modification.
• Experience in emergency veterinary care: Hands-on experience in urgent veterinary care settings.
