Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will have a strong background in assessing risks and determining appropriate coverage for clients. You will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, analyzing financial information, and collaborating with agents to propose policy terms that safeguard the interests of both the company and the clients.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret data from various sources to evaluate risk factors.
• Make informed decisions on policy approvals and rejections.
• Work closely with underwriters to develop risk assessment models.
• Monitor underwriting metrics and provide insights for improvements.
• Support agents in understanding policy provisions and terms.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting policies.
• Prepare reports on underwriting performance for management review.
• Foster strong relationships with customers and agents.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related course
• Advanced certification in underwriting preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting within the insurance sector

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Underwriter (CIU)
