Therapeutic Assistant

Job Description

The Therapeutic Assistant will work directly under the supervision of licensed therapists, providing support and care to patients in a therapeutic environment. This role involves assisting with various activities, managing patient interactions, and contributing to holistic mental health support.

Responsibilities

• Help implement treatment plans designed by licensed therapists.
• Monitor and document client progress through established protocols.
• Provide support to patients in daily activities, ensuring comfort and care.
• Engage with patients to offer emotional support and guidance.
• Report any significant changes or concerns regarding patients to therapists.
• Work collaboratively with other support staff and therapists to enhance patient care.
• Contribute to a positive therapeutic atmosphere and team dynamic.
• Assist in training staff on new policies or procedures regarding patient care.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience

Experience

• 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare or mental health setting

Technical Skills

• Electronic Health Records Software
• Crisis Management Techniques

Certifications

• Certification as a Nursing Assistant or Mental Health Assistant

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic
