School Resource Officer (SRO)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled School Resource Officer (SRO) to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students and staff within our educational facility. The SRO will serve as a liaison between the school and law enforcement agencies, promoting a safe learning environment and fostering positive relationships between students and officers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student behavior and intervene when appropriate to maintain a safe environment.
• Participate in community outreach programs to enhance the relationship between the school and community.
• Advise school authorities on matters of safety and security concerning the school’s environment.
• Assist in training staff on safety measures and protocols.
• Facilitate workshops to educate students about their rights and responsibilities.
• Develop and promote positive peer relationships through mentoring programs.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement to address safety concerns directly affecting the school community.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations regarding school safety.
• Support the school's efforts in implementing restorative justice practices.
• Act as a visible presence in the school to deter potential criminal activity.

Requirements

Education

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or related field is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
• Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and practices

Soft Skills

• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
• Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students

Certifications

• First Aid and CPR certification
• Training in school safety and crisis management

Languages

• English: Fluent
