Mining Safety Officer

Job Description

We're seeking a proactive Mining Safety Officer to oversee safety operations in our Johannesburg site. Your main responsibilities will include risk assessments, safety training, and compliance monitoring. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with a passion for worker safety and a strong background in mining regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review and update safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures.
• Support the Safety Manager in preparing safety reports.
• Engage with employees to foster a safe working environment.
• Monitor workplace conditions and advise on improvements.
• Facilitate safety drills and simulations.
• Keep abreast of changes in mining safety regulations.
• Advise management on safety-related legislative requirements.
• Contribute to the development of safety-related documentation.
• Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies regarding safety issues.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Safety Management is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mining safety positions
