Food Scientist

Job Description

We are searching for a passionate Food Scientist to join our innovative team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing new food products and improving existing ones by applying knowledge of food science and technology. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet quality and safety standards, and you'll be involved in hands-on lab work as well as product testing.

Responsibilities

• Analyze nutritional content and promote health benefits of products.
• Identify and source ingredients that align with product goals.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality and consistency of raw materials.
• Assist in product packaging design and labeling compliance.
• Engage with external partners for research collaborations.
• Conduct training sessions on new products for sales and customer service teams.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related discipline

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in food research and development

Technical Skills

• Nutritional Analysis
• Microbiology

Soft Skills

• Analytical Thinking
• Presentation Skills

Certifications

• Food Safety Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with product marketing: Understanding of how to market new food products effectively.
