Urban Planner

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Urban Planner to join our Johannesburg team. You will be involved in various stages of urban planning projects, from conceptualization to implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of zoning laws and environmental regulations, ensuring that our projects align with community needs and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead urban design charrettes to develop creative solutions for urban challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive project execution.
• Conduct environmental assessments and sustainability evaluations.
• Participate in project briefings with stakeholders and community members.
• Contribute to the development of urban design guidelines.
• Utilize GIS tools for spatial analysis and data visualization.
• Implement community engagement strategies for public input.
• Review and analyze planning policies and legislation.
• Foster partnerships with community organizations and advocacy groups.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing planning documentation.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field
• Master's degree in Urban Planning or Environmental Studies is an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience working on urban planning projects
