Geological Technician

Job Description

As a Geological Technician, you will play a critical role in the mining industry by conducting tests on ore samples to assess their mineral content and quality. You will collaborate with geologists and engineers to ensure the smooth operation of mining activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical analyses and physically test samples to evaluate their quality.
• Work closely with the mining team to ensure effective sampling processes.
• Interpret results and make data-driven recommendations.
• Assist with the upkeep and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Engage in fieldwork and sample collection as necessary.
• Represent the geology team in cross-departmental meetings.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports of laboratory activities.
• Participate actively in maintaining a safe laboratory and work environment.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field is essential

Experience

• Minimum 2 years in ore testing or geological laboratory

Technical Skills

• X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis
• Inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Communication

Certifications

• Advanced Laboratory Techniques Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of GIS software: Experience with Geographic Information System applications.
• Experience with geological mapping: Ability to contribute to geological mapping and reporting.
