Job Description

As an Actuary in our Johannesburg branch, you will play a critical role in analyzing financial data to forecast future risks and costs. Your work will support strategic decisions, ensuring that we maintain our competitive edge in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement actuarial models to effectively evaluate risks.
  • Analyze data trends to propose prudent adjustments to insurance product pricing.
  • Coordinate with cross-departmental teams on financial outlook and strategic decisions.
  • Conduct stress testing and scenario analyses for policy development.
  • Continuously monitor regulatory changes affecting actuarial practices and advise management.
  • Evaluate the impact of structural changes within the company on risk assessment.
  • Prepare and review reports that summarize risk exposure assessments.
  • Assist in mentoring junior actuarial staff and trainees.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • Several actuarial examinations passed
Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in actuarial roles
Technical Skills
  • Statistical Software (SAS, R or Python)

Certifications
  • Fellowship of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
