Job Description

We are looking for an Insurance Underwriter to join our Durban team. The ideal candidate will evaluate and analyze insurance applications, ensuring proper risk assessment and underwriting decisions are made to protect the company's interests.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations of risk and policy requirements.
• Develop and implement underwriting strategies for new markets.
• Review loss histories and trends to inform decisions.
• Engage in team meetings to discuss underwriting best practices.
• Prepare documentation for policy approval and renewals.
• Provide recommendations for improving underwriting processes.
• Ensure all documentation is compliant with regulatory standards.
• Support the sales team with technical expertise on underwriting.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or related field
• Postgraduate degree in Insurance or Business is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting roles

• CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional)
