Actuarial Analyst

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a detail-oriented Actuarial Analyst to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting complex data analysis, building actuarial models, and assisting in evaluating financial risks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide insights for decision-making and strategy development.

Responsibilities

• Analyse historical data to inform future pricing and reserve estimates.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of data utilized in projects.
• Collaborate in model validation processes and peer reviews.
• Assist in deferring technical reports to regulatory bodies.
• Aid in project management and contribute to continuous process improvements.
• Help train and mentor junior analysts in actuarial practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, or a related field

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in the insurance or financial sector

Technical Skills

• Model Development
• Big Data Tools (Hadoop/SAS)

Soft Skills

• Attention to Detail
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Understanding of regulatory requirements: Knowledge of regulations surrounding the insurance and financial industries.
• Experience in project management: Previous experience in managing actuarial projects is preferred.
