Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Our company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to play a pivotal role in our engineering firm in Cape Town. You will be responsible for the analysis, design, and testing of mechanical components and systems. Ideal candidates should possess strong analytical skills, an understanding of mechanical principles, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept through to completion.
• Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures.
• Suggest alternative design and manufacturing processes for efficiency.
• Oversee the testing and validation of mechanical prototypes.
• Work closely with suppliers to select materials and components.
• Manage and mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Ensure project documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Foster a culture of safety and quality within the engineering team.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
• Master's degree in Engineering Management is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development

Technical Skills

• ProE/Creo
• Stress Analysis

Soft Skills

• Leadership

Certifications

• Lean Six Sigma Certification
• PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous
