Job Description

As an Actuary, you will be part of a dynamic team working on various projects that require innovative problem-solving skills. You will analyze data and model risks for a range of clients, ensuring they’re equipped to make informed financial decisions. If you're passionate about numbers and insights, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate financial risks and provide solutions to mitigate them.
• Create detailed actuarial calculations for loss reserving.
• Develop and maintain databases for effective risk management.
• Conduct peer reviews of actuarial work for quality assurance.
• Provide training sessions for junior staff on actuarial principles.
• Engage in research to improve actuarial methodologies.
• Present findings and strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Contribute to cross-functional teams on special projects.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Finance

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a relevant actuarial role

• Data Analytics

Certifications

• Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa
• Actuarial Technician qualification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in insurance or reinsurance sectors: Practical experience within the insurance or reinsurance environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in advanced statistical methods: Ability to utilize advanced statistical techniques for complex analyses.
