Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will have a passion for animal care, strong surgical skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. You will perform surgeries, diagnose and treat various animal ailments, and provide preventative care.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine check-ups and health assessments.
• Assist in surgical procedures and post-operative care.
• Educate clients on pet health and hygiene.
• Keep abreast of advances in veterinary medicine.
• Participate in community outreach programs.
• Contribute to a friendly and caring environment in the practice.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)

Experience

• At least 3 years of clinical veterinary experience

Technical Skills

• Emergency Care
• Client Consultation

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Problem Solving

Certifications

• Member of the SA Veterinary Association (SAVA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Shelter Medicine: Background in providing care for shelter animals and a commitment to animal welfare.
• Specialised Surgical Skills: Surgical experience beyond general practice, e.g., orthopaedics, soft tissue.
