We're seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our thriving team in Durban. The right candidate will be adept at evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining policy terms to ensure our clients have the best coverage tailored to their needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance applications and determine coverage terms.
• Analyze risk factors associated with potential clients and assess their financial standing.
• Collaborate with the sales team to assist in policy explanations and client requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agents and clients for exceptional service delivery.
• Leverage technology to assess risk using advanced algorithms and data analytics.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and present underwriter summaries to stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze loss ratios and assist in the development of underwriting guidelines.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance underwriting skills.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or risk management is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in underwriting with a focus on property and casualty insurance

• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
