Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to be part of our Durban office. In this role, you'll be tasked with creating, testing, and refining mechanical systems while ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test prototypes for mechanical systems.
• Work on projects from concept through production.
• Conduct workshops and training for junior engineers.
• Analyze data and prepare reports on mechanical performance.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials.
• Participate in safety assessments and risk management.
• Review designs for manufacturability and assembly.
• Lead cross-functional teams in engineering projects.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Master's degree is a plus

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or engineering

Technical Skills

• SolidWorks
• MATLAB

Soft Skills

• Project management
• Effective communication

Certifications

• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.)
• Lean Six Sigma Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with CAD software: Familiarity with various CAD software tools to support design efforts.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics: Background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
