Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Structural Engineer in the vibrant city of Johannesburg. In this role, you will utilize your skills in structural design, analysis, and project management to contribute significantly to our projects, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD and structural analysis software to develop design plans.
• Work closely with construction teams to ensure proper implementation of designs.
• Perform structural assessments and evaluations of existing projects.
• Draft and present project proposals to stakeholders.
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary project teams to align goals.
• Provide mentorship and training to engineering interns.
• Ensure all work complies with engineering codes and standards.
• Participate in design review meetings and contribute creative solutions.
• Document all engineering processes and decisions.
• Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in structural design and analysis

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Concrete & Steel Design

Soft Skills

• Interpersonal Skills
• Time Management

Certifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng)
• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Intermediate

Advantageous

• Experience with project management software: Hands-on experience with software such as MS Project or Primavera.
• Knowledge of seismic and wind load analysis: Understanding of structural performance in extreme weather conditions.
