Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Trauma Psychologist to work with individuals recovering from traumatic experiences. Your expertise will be instrumental in devising therapy plans that foster healing and resilience while promoting mental wellness within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Assess clients’ psychological health and create personalized therapy plans.
  • Facilitate support groups and therapeutic workshops.
  • Engage in collaborative care with other mental health professionals.
  • Track and report on client outcomes to enhance treatment effectiveness.
  • Guide clients through trauma-focused interventions to promote healing.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of therapeutic practices within the organization.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or related field
  • Specialized certification in trauma therapy highly preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years working with trauma-affected populations

Languages
  • English: Fluent
  • Xhosa: Basic

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of EMDR therapy techniques: Understanding of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a treatment method.
  • Familiarity with neurobiological impacts of trauma: Awareness of the effects of trauma on brain functions.
