Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our passionate team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent surgical skills, and a compassionate approach to animal care.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses in animals.
• Oversee surgical procedures and ensure the highest level of care.
• Implement preventive health programs for pets.
• Engage with clients and provide excellent customer service.
• Coordinate with local animal welfare organizations for community outreach.
• Assist in managing clinic inventory and supplies.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to veterinary students and interns.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)
• Postgraduate qualifications in veterinary surgery preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of clinical experience required

Technical Skills

• Veterinary diagnostics
• Surgical techniques

Soft Skills

• Stress management
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (VECCS)
• Surgery Certification from the South African Veterinary Council

Languages

• English: Fluent
