Job Description

As a Veterinary Surgeon in our Pretoria clinic, you will be instrumental in diagnosing, treating, and preventing health issues in pets. You will collaborate with a team of veterinary professionals to deliver the highest standard of care. The right candidate will have strong surgical skills, coupled with a friendly disposition and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Examine pets and animals to assess their health through physical examinations.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, including X-rays and bloodwork.
  • Implement treatment protocols including vaccinations and medications.
  • Provide emergency care and stabilization for injured animals.
  • Educate clients on pet health, nutrition, and preventive health care.
  • Manage and mentor junior veterinary staff, instilling good practices.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.
  • Facilitate smooth and compassionate interactions with clients.

Requirements

Education
  • BVSc or equivalent veterinary qualification
  • Postgraduate qualifications in veterinary surgery preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in a veterinary surgical setting
