Job Description

As a Storm Chaser, you will track and document severe weather patterns such as thunderstorms, hurricanes, and tornadoes. This role requires the use of scientific equipment to gather data that will be reported to weather agencies and media outlets.

Responsibilities

• Utilize radar and weather tracking software to gather real-time data.
• Prepare and communicate weather analyses to the team and stakeholders.
• Conduct research on regional weather patterns to support forecasting efforts.
• Participate in training sessions to improve storm tracking techniques.
• Assist in developing safety procedures for storm chasing activities.
• Engage with communities to educate them on severe weather preparedness.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field

Experience

• 3+ years of field experience in severe weather analysis

Technical Skills

• Videography and photography
• GPS navigation

Soft Skills

• Adaptability
• Attention to detail

Certifications

• First Aid Certification

Languages

• Afrikaans: Conversational

Advantageous

• Familiar with emergency response protocols: Experience working with emergency services during severe weather events.
