Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Animal Health Technician to support our veterinary team in Durban. The successful candidate will work directly with animals, assisting in examinations, treatments, and preventive care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare animals for surgical and medical procedures and monitor them post-operation.
• Conduct health assessments and maintain animal hygiene.
• Assist with client communications regarding healthcare plans for their pets.
• Stay updated on veterinary practices and new technologies.
• Train and mentor junior staff and interns.
• Participate in community outreach programs focused on animal welfare.
• Assist in managing inventory and supplies for the clinic.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Technical Skills

• Veterinary diagnostics
• Surgical assistance

• Interpersonal skills

Certifications

• Qualification in Animal Health Technology

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Certification in animal behaviour: Knowledge of animal behaviour techniques to ensure effective interactions.
• Experience in emergency veterinary care: Experience in handling emergency situations and providing urgent care.
