Underwriter

Job Description

As an Underwriter at Leading Insurance Company in Durban, you will assess applications, calculate risks, and establish standards for insurance policies. You will work with clients and agents to gather necessary information and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite policies by evaluating risk factors and determining appropriate premiums.
• Engage with clients to explain underwriting decisions and coverage options.
• Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure all underwriting procedures adhere to regulations.
• Analyze data to identify trends and potential risks in underwriting.
• Assist in developing and reviewing underwriting training programs for staff.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and client interactions.
• Provide insights for product development based on market trends and client feedback.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field
• Relevant insurance certifications are an advantage

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in underwriting or related field
