Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our passionate team at Local Veterinary Clinic in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating ailments amongst a variety of animal species, including dogs, cats, and exotic pets. Your expertise will ensure that our patients receive the highest standard of care.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses in animals.
• Perform routine check-ups and wellness exams.
• Manage the clinic's day-to-day veterinary care functions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior veterinary staff.
• Document patient interactions and treatment outcomes accurately.
• Consult with specialist veterinarians when necessary.
• Advocate for and educate pet owners on the importance of animal welfare.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science, postgraduate studies preferred
• Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)

Experience

• 5+ years of diverse veterinary experience

• Member of the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA)
• CPR and First Aid for Animals Certification

• Familiarity with Alternative Therapies: Experience in acupuncture or chiropractic care for pets is a plus.
