Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Actuary to join our Johannesburg office. The ideal candidate will leverage statistical and analytical methods to evaluate risk, particularly within the insurance and finance sectors. You'll be involved in designing and analyzing complex models to support business decisions and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and develop pricing models for various insurance products.
• Analyze statistical data to draw insights and inform decision-making.
• Prepare and present reports on findings to senior management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other departments to design and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing actuarial models and suggest improvements.
• Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory requirements impacting actuarial practices.

Requirements

Education

• BSc in Mathematics or Statistics
• Actuarial Associate (AA) status or equivalent preferred

Experience

• 4+ years in actuarial consulting or relevant experience

Technical Skills

• Financial Modeling
• Programming (R, Python)

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Detail-oriented

Certifications

• Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

• Experience in Machine Learning: Experience using machine learning techniques for predictive analytics in an actuarial context.
