We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our growing team in Durban. This role requires a strong understanding of risk assessment and the ability to make informed decisions. The successful candidate will have a solid background in underwriting principles and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite insurance policies based on company standards.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding policies and coverage options.
• Implement best practices to improve the efficiency of the underwriting process.
• Evaluate loss history and financial data of applicants.
• Collaborate with the claims department to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
• Insurance qualifications such as AINS or CPCU are an advantage

Experience

• 3+ years of experience as an underwriter

Certifications

• Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management (FIRM)
• Certified Underwriter (CU)

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Bilingual abilities: Fluency in Afrikaans or Zulu in addition to English is beneficial.
