Public Health Officer

Job Description

As a Public Health Officer in Durban, you will play a vital role in assessing community health needs, implementing interventions, and advocating for health equity. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in public health who can engage with the community and drive positive health change.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach programs targeting high-risk populations.
• Keep abreast of public health research and emerging trends.
• Coordinate health fairs and screening events.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings to discuss community health issues.
• Create reports on health program outcomes for stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or related field
• Master's degree in Public Health or Health Education preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in community health initiatives

Certifications

• Public Health Certified Specialist (PHCS)
• First Aid/CPR Certification

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

• Ability to conduct qualitative research: Experience in gathering and analyzing qualitative data for health assessments.
• Knowledge of local health regulations: Familiarity with health policies and regulations applicable in South Africa.
