Exotic Animal Veterinarian

Job Description

VetCare Solutions is looking for an experienced Exotic Animal Veterinarian to deliver exceptional care to exotic pets. Emphasis will be placed on preventive care and client education.

Responsibilities

• Manage the health and wellness of exotic pets through preventive care.
• Perform diagnostic tests and interpret results.
• Develop treatment plans tailored to individual species.
• Participate in training junior staff and interns.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary standards and regulations.
• Actively engage in client relations and follow-ups to ensure best practices.
• Provide emergency care and treatment when necessary.
• Manage inventory and ensure proper maintenance of medical supplies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science or equivalent
• Additional certifications in animal behaviour or nutrition will be beneficial

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the veterinary field with exotic animals

Certifications

• Advanced Veterinary Practitioner (AVP)
• Certification in Exotic Animal Medicine

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Public speaking skills: Ability to effectively communicate veterinary knowledge in workshops and community events.
