Youth Corrections Officer

Job Description

As a Youth Corrections Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining order and safety within our facility while focusing on rehabilitation efforts for young offenders. Your guidance will be vital in their journey towards positive change.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise youth in a corrections facility.
• Ensure safety and security for all youth and staff.
• Implement and enforce rules and regulations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to youth.
• Facilitate educational and vocational programs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and decision-making.
• Work with social workers on individualised plans for each youth.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.

Requirements

Education

• Matric Certificate
• Diploma in Social Work or related field is preferred

Experience

• Experience in a correctional environment would be advantageous.

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Mediation skills: Ability to mediate disputes and encourage positive interactions between youth.
• Experience in conflict resolution training: Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques applicable to youth.
