Job Description

As an Area Brakeman, you will be pivotal in ensuring the safe and effective movement of trains within your designated area. Your responsibilities will include inspecting brakes on rail cars, operating signals, and managing compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

• Set and release brakes on trains to control speed and stop safely.
• Communicate with the Train Driver and other crew members for safe train operation.
• Conduct inspections and maintain brakes and other equipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading cargo.
• Adhere to regulatory and safety standards.
• Keep detailed logs of inspections and repairs.
• Assist in training new staff on safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness activities.
• Remain adaptable to changing work environments and schedules.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant technical qualification

Experience

• Familiarity with railway operations and equipment preferred

Technical Skills

• Railway signaling systems operation
• Brake testing and inspection equipment

Soft Skills

• Adaptability

Certifications

• Additional technical training

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous
