Job Description

Insurance Underwriter needed in Johannesburg! Evaluate and assess risks associated with insurance applications. You will play a critical role in maintaining our commitment to customer satisfaction and sound risk management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and feasibility studies for complex cases.
• Respond to inquiries from brokers and clients in a timely manner.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting strategies.
• Use underwriting software and tools to streamline processes.
• Identify opportunities for product improvement and development.
• Stay current with industry developments to enhance underwriting efficacy.
• Prepare presentations and reports for management as required.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Insurance, Business Administration or equivalent
• Postgraduate qualification is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or related field

Technical Skills

• Market Analysis
• Insurance Regulations

• Customer Service

Certifications

• Fellowship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of South African insurance laws: Understanding of local insurance regulations and legislative changes.
• Familiarity with claims processes: Experience in handling insurance claims is beneficial.
