Job Description

The Mental Wellness Institute is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic support to individuals experiencing mental health issues, fostering a positive environment that promotes healing and growth. You will work closely with clients to develop treatment plans, conduct assessments, and facilitate group therapy sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver therapeutic support and counseling to individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Conduct psychological assessments to evaluate client needs.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to client goals.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group sessions to encourage shared experiences.
  • Provide education on coping skills and mental health resources.
  • Document treatment progress and adapt sessions based on individual client feedback.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client care strategies.
  • Conduct community workshops to foster mental wellness awareness.
  • Support clients during crises with appropriate intervention techniques.

Advantageous

  • Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Ability to communicate fluently in both languages to better serve clients.
  • Experience with group therapy facilitation: Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating group therapy sessions.
