Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our growing team in Durban. The ideal candidate will analyse insurance applications, assess risk, and make informed decisions to ensure the profitability of our portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Perform data analysis to determine risk profiles and pricing strategies.
• Engage in continuous training and professional development to enhance underwriting skills.
• Manage multiple portfolios efficiently, ensuring timely processing of applications.
• Provide mentorship to junior underwriters and assist in their development.
• Prepare and present underwriting reports for management review.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
• Professional designation such as CPCU or AIC is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of underwriting experience with specific knowledge of commercial insurance

• Insurance Policy Analysis

Certifications

• Certified Underwriter (CU)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Previous experience in claims handling: Experience in claims processing to better understand the underwriting process.
