Job Description

As a Railroad Brake, Signal, and Switch Operator, you will be responsible for the safe operation of locomotives and trains. You will ensure compliance with all operational regulations and actively participate in the efficient loading and unloading of cargo.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage train schedules and operations to ensure timely services.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks to identify any equipment malfunctions.
• Communicate train status and other critical information to relevant personnel.
• Assist in the training of new team members on safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Implement procedures for high risk scenarios while adhering to safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with various departments to streamline transportation logistics.
• Keep abreast of industry regulations and best practices to improve operational strategies.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certifications in mechanical engineering or logistics are a plus

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in similar roles

Certifications

• FRA certification (Federal Railroad Administration)
• Additional licenses in heavy machinery operation are advantageous

Advantageous

• Previous Train Operation Experience: Practical experience as a Train Operator or similar role will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of Local Railway Systems: Understanding of the South African railway network and logistics.
