Tax Consultant

Job Description

We are seeking a Tax Consultant to join our dynamic team in Pretoria. In this role, you'll advise clients on tax compliance and planning strategies while ensuring they meet all obligations with the South African Revenue Service (SARS). Your expertise in tax legislation will be crucial to providing sound business advice and improving clients’ tax efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review tax returns and ensure accuracy in accordance with tax laws.
• Provide training sessions for clients on tax compliance procedures.
• Engage in proactive tax planning for various financial transactions.
• Collaborate with external auditors and other financial professionals as needed.
• Lead client meetings to discuss tax strategy and planning.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of client information.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or related field
• Master's degree or additional certifications are advantageous.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in tax consulting or advisory roles

Technical Skills

• VAT and income tax knowledge
• Risk assessment

Soft Skills

• Negotiation skills
• Time management

Certifications

• Certified Tax Practitioner (CTP)
• Registered Tax Consultant (RTC)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with tax software like Pastel or Sage: Hands-on experience with accounting software and tax preparation tools.
• Knowledge of tax dispute resolution: Experience managing tax disputes and negotiations with SARS.
