Structural Engineer

Job Description

As a Structural Engineer at our firm in Cape Town, you will play a critical role in the design and analysis of structures, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and optimizing designs for functionality and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structures such as bridges, buildings, and other infrastructure.
• Ensure all designs meet local and international standards.
• Work closely with contractors during the construction process to resolve issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide training on best practices.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for projects.
• Develop and implement testing protocols for materials.
• Review and approve drawings and specifications from other engineers.
• Participate in professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering

Technical Skills

• Structural Analysis Software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS)
• AutoCAD
• Reinforced Concrete Design
• Steel Design

Soft Skills

Certifications

• Professional Engineer (PrEng) certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
