Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a talented Structural Engineer to join our team in Cape Town. In this role, you will focus on designing and overseeing construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and sustainability practices. You will collaborate with architects and other engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of our clients while adhering to industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyse structural systems for buildings and other infrastructure projects.
• Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for construction documentation.
• Collaborate with architects and project managers to assess project requirements and constraints.
• Ensure compliance with local and international engineering standards.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Evaluate and recommend construction materials and methods.
• Assist in project management and coordination with contractors and suppliers.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5 years of hands-on experience in structural engineering projects

Technical Skills

• Concrete and Steel Design Codes
• Geotechnical Engineering Principles

Soft Skills

• Analytical Skills
• Effective Communication

Certifications

• Chartered Engineer
• LEED Accreditation

Languages

• Afrikaans: Conversational
• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM): Experience with BIM technologies to improve project outcomes.
• Knowledge of Local Construction Regulations: Understanding of the South African building codes and regulations.
